How To Install Kadence Theme In WordPress (2024)
I think Kadence is one of the best themes for your WordPress website.
It’s fast, simple to customize, and free.
In this post, I’ll show you how to install the Kadence theme in WordPress. And some basic customization options for your website.
Let’s get started.
Install Kadence theme on your website
In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance -> Themes. Search for Kadence in the search themes box.
Hover the mouse on the Kadence theme and you’ll see the Install button. Click on the Install button to install the theme.
Now when you hover the mouse on the Kadence theme, you’ll see the Activate button. Click it to activate the Kadence theme on your website.
Customize Kadence theme on your website
The Kadence theme is activated and you can now customize settings for the theme. Click on the Customize button to get started.
Customize colors and fonts
Click the Colors & Fonts option and go to Colors. Change the colors in the Global Palette options as per your brand colors.
If you need help in choosing your brand colors, go to colors.co. This website gives you a good color combination that you can pick from. Once you have selected your brand colors, add them to the Global Palette, as shown above.
Go back to Colors & Fonts option and select Typography. You’ll set your website font here.
I recommend keeping this simple and choose from the below options that I’ve provided. They will make your content readable and professional looking. You don’t need to complicate this or spend hours on selecting the fonts.
Base Font: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif
Heading Font Family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif
Customize posts/pages layout
Next, let us customize the Posts/Pages Layout section. You’ll find the Page Layout, Single Post Layout, and Archive Layout under this option. I would say ignore the Archive Layout as it’s not used much by readers.
Customize Page Layout
In WordPress, you can create Pages or Posts. Page Layout settings affect the pages you create in WordPress. I recommend keeping it simple and use the default settings.
The only settings I would suggest messing with would be the below,
- Default Page Layout – Change settings if you want your pages to have a left or right sidebar.
- Show Featured Image – Enable this setting if you want to show featured image on the pages.
Customize Single Post Layout
Single Post Layout settings affect the individual posts you create in WordPress. I recommend keeping it simple and use the default settings.
The only settings I would suggest messing with would be the below,
- Default Post Layout – Change settings if you want your posts to have a left or right sidebar.
- Show Featured Image – Enable this setting if you want to show featured image on the posts.
- Show Post Author Box – Enable this so it shows the Author details of who wrote the post.
- Show Comments – Enable this if you want user comments to show on your posts.
Customize site identity
The final customization you need is to update your site identity, which includes your site name. Go to the Site Identity setting under the Customization options. Click on the Site Title and Logo Control settings.
I would suggest adding the Site Title section where you can put the name of your website. e.g. For my website that is based on my personal brand, the site title is Kevin Rodrigues.
There are other options like adding a logo, site icon, etc. but we leave that for another post where we will work on the site logo.
